Are you going to the IAFP Annual Conference in Cleveland? We are, and we’d love to have you swing by our booth, number 737.

Did you know? The IAFP Annual Meeting is attended by more than 3,500 of the top industry, academic and governmental food safety professionals from all over the world. These are exactly the people we hope to reach with information about 3-A Sanitary Standards.

The IAFP Annual Conference is Attended by More Than 3,500 Food Industry Executives, Academics and Government Officials.

We will share how equipment that has earned the 3-A Symbol uniquely streamlines inspections, making regulators’ jobs easier and giving processors bullet-proof confidence in their equipment.

We hear it all the time from regulators:  When they see the 3-A Symbol, they know the equipment conforms with 3-A Sanitary Standards – that the equipment passed a rigorous inspection by one of our Certified Conformance Evaluators (CCE).

3-A Sanitary Standards are the gold standard. They’re codified in the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO). Equipment that is in conformance with relevant 3-A Standards is also compliant with the PMO.

“If a piece of equipment is designed to 3-A Standards, it meets the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance, and it makes our job as sanitarians much easier when we're in facilities evaluating that equipment,” said Brian Wise, a regulatory sanitarian with the Ohio Department of Agriculture Dairy Division. “We can see the 3-A Symbol on that piece of equipment, and we know that it's going to be designed correctly. It can be cleaned.”

Moreover, when regulators inspect equipment that has not earned a 3-A Symbol, the PMO encourages them to use the 3-A Standards as a guide to inspection.

Of course, we’ll also be sharing how processors benefit all year long when they choose equipment that conforms with the 3-A Sanitary Standards. Beyond making verification and validation less costly and time-consuming, equipment that has earned the 3-A Symbol delivers a substantial return on investment (ROI). The Standards reduce maintenance costs, minimize food production downtime, optimize cleaning production, decrease water and chemical usage for better sustainability, and – perhaps most importantly – protect the brand from lapses in food safety.

In addition to the benefits and ROI of equipment that has earned the 3-A Symbol, we will be sharing how the IAFP attendees can verify certifications and spot counterfeits using 3-A SSI resources.

Another priority at the 3-A booth is encouraging participation. As a volunteer-led organization, 3-A SSI literally could not do what we do without people who are generous with their time and expertise. So, we will appeal to IAFP attendees to become involved in our work groups and committees. We’ll be ready to show them how their peers are involved in shaping the Standards – and how they can get involved too.

3-A Booth at IAFP 2025

Finally, we’ll host several 10-minute mini-sessions in the 3-A booth. These sessions will offer targeted tools, information and resources to IAFP attendees, aiming to encourage volunteer participation on workgroups and committees, expand the ranks of Certified Conformance Evaluators (CCEs), give students and educators access to helpful content and more.

Although sessions are planned at specific times on July 28 and 29 and participants are encouraged to RSVP, we’re inviting attendees to drop by the 3-A booth anytime to discuss mini-session topics, which include:

We hope to see you at our booth, number 737, at the IAFP Annual Convention in Cleveland July 27 to 29.
