3-A SSI Releases Revised Standard 3-A Sanitary Standard for Centrifugal and Positive Rotary Pumps, Number 02-12

McLEAN, Virginia - 3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc. is pleased to announce the 12th edition of 3-A Sanitary Standard Centrifugal and Positive Rotary Pumps, Number 02-12.  The new edition is now in the new “B Level” format and style, which uses the “A Level,” 3-A Sanitary Standard for General Requirements, ANSI/3-A 00-01-2018 as a normative reference. The new edition becomes effective on October 31, 2020.

The new edition is an effort which began with a proposal back in 2005. This proposal went through many moderations and eventually needed to be revised with the new “B Level” conventions. This new format was introduced to Working Group 4 (Pumps & Mixers) as Proposal B-02-11-A (N438) on September 9, 2019. Members reviewed and revised the draft during Webinars on September 27, 2019, October 25, 2019, November 21, 2019, December 12, 2019, January 23, 2020, February 21, 2020 and April 2, 2020. 02-12 was approved for publication following a successful sequence of Working Group and Steering Committee Ballots.

This 3-A Sanitary Standard applies to the sanitary aspects of centrifugal and positive rotary pumps for milk and milk products. Product enters the inlet(s) and exits at the outlet(s). Pumps may include drive components and supports.
